Its that time of the year again where we’ve decided to review and update Our Policy. We’ve added a little bit more information on the privacy and donations side of things and updated a couple of channels rules and server rules.

We require everyone to read http://bnc4free.com/?page_id=13 and ensure that they are complying with Our Policy. Failure to comply with it could result in your BNC account being deleted or even you being blacklisted from our service! Im sure nobody wants that to happen, so all we ask is that you read the policy and ensure you are abiding by the rules and regulations we’ve set out!

Upcoming Changes to Our Service

Recently, i’ve been looking round BNC4FREE and seen how the request system is failing slightly, how some of our users are evading our security methods and violating our rules and getting away with it and have generally noticed a lack of organisation within the staff team and the way things are run. We couldn’t even carry out the previously mentioned server merges on the dates we specified. With this in mind, certain aspects of our service will be changing soon. Due to the fact we missed one of our server merge dates, we have changed both of the dates. They are now as follows:

on.ca.bnc4free.com
The server is being decomissioned and users will be moved to nj.us.bnc4free.com on Sunday 22nd August 2010

tx.us.bnc4free.com
The server is being decomissioned and users will be moved to nv.us.bnc4free.com temporarily on Sunday 29th August 2010 and then later moved onto a new server.

UPDATE: Both of the above scheduled moves have taken place. Everything is now working perfectly on the new servers!

Server Merges

BNC4FREE is decomissioning 2 of its servers due to lack of funds. In order to ensure that all users still have their accounts, we are merging the decomissioned servers with some of our other servers. The details are as follows below.

The server is being decomissioned and users will be moved to nl.eu.bnc4free.com on Wednesday 18th August 2010

tx.us.bnc4free.com

The server is being decomissioned and users will be moved to nv.us.bnc4free.com temporarily on Tuesday 7th September 2010 and then later moved onto a new server.

We understand that this may cause some inconvienence and appologize for any that may be caused throughout this process.

IPv6 Support Coming Soon

In order to keep up2date with technology, the BNC4FREE team have decided that IPv6 will be implemented into our services. This means that you will be able to connect to networks that support IPv6 using one of the IPv6 addresses we have available. This week we have installed IPv6 onto our servers although it will not be available on the BNC’s until after the upgrade. Currently, there are only 3 servers out of our 7 that support IPv6 although we will be updating the rest in the future. The following servers will include IPv6 features after the upgrade:

IPv6 will be instantly available to use as and when bnc server is restarted for upgrade. Aswell as being able to connect to IPv6 networks, you can also connect to the bnc using IPv6 assuming your internet service provider has provided you with a working IPv6 address. Summer Upgrade

If you were around for Christmas 2009, you’ll remember that we did a massive upgrade on all our servers and services in the space of about 4 days. Thats right, its happening again this summer. The date has not yet been set but there will be lots of changes!

Webpanel Update & BNC4FREE Services Bot Update

So we’ve recently changed the BNC4FREE Webpanel theme to look a bit more ‘bright’ opposed to that dull and boring theme we had before. You will also notice that when you first access the webpanel, you won’t be asked for a username and password!

Instead, there is now a login button on the left side which can be used to access your account. In the near future we’ll be posting planned maintenance/upgrades on the homepage of the webpanel and listing the staff that are assigned to the server you are on in the orange box at the bottom of the page. We feel this will ensure that users are aware of the maintenance and plans we will be carrying out on specific servers and also make users aware of which staff are assigned to support each server. This should in theory mean quicker support times.

On IRC, we’ve been attempting to upgrade our Services Bot and this has caused a variety of downtime and issues while requesting new bnc’s. We believe that a couple of users probably didnt recieve the emails with their bnc details in them and in a few cases, the email was sent but the account wasnt added to the bnc. If this is the case, please post a message below with your request id and state whether you recieved the email of the bnc is claiming the details are invalid. We’ll be able to fix the problem quicker this way. As of now, we believe the bot is working correctly after today’s latest bugfix.

New Servers!

BNC4FREE has just bought 2 brand new servers! There should no longer be session limit problems or problems connecting to networks because of limits as we have also purchased 10 ip’s on nl.eu.bnc4free.com. The following new servers have been added:

During the summer will be carrying out maintenance on ALL servers and this may mean there is some downtime on 1 or 2 days. Information regarding the maintenance and downtime will be posted here, on the BNC4FREE Forum and on Our Twitter.

Merge with SDXHost/ConnectTek was just a plan to take us down!

Yesterday we merged our network (SurgeHost) with 2 existing network SDXHost and ConnectTek. I’ve personally been an administrator on the ConnectTek Network and knew a majority of people from SDXHost. Not even 24 hours after we merged, the network founder and also BNC4FREE Support Staff Member (Brenden), decided to remove our servers and myself from the network for reasons that have not yet been established. By doing this they successfully gained our users from BNC4FREE on SurgeHost ofwhich some of them are still there.

The channel that was owned in ConnectTek (#bnc4free) has been set to invite only by Brenden who has now been removed from our staff team. This network is no longer classified as official due to its abusive actions and what appears to be a plan to take us down. You can alternatively join one of the following official networks:
